32 Fantastic Songs

March 31st 2008 14:13
I would regard myself as a bit of a music snob. The grand upside of this is that I have a fairly awesome variety of music.

I would recommend you have a look at this page here, provided you have Itunes. A delicious list of songs that should introduce you to some of the finest, most innovative and varied talents of the music industry.

The list of those that could make it onto the Itunes list is here, listed by song, then artist.

Alpha Beta Parking Lot - Cake

Tusk - Fleetwood Mac

All I Need - Radiohead

Brighter Than Sunshine - Aqualung

Madonna
Madonna's Hung up is interesting in that its main effect is over lap, pushed over an ABBA sample, and is effective in its simplicity

Hung Up - Madonna

The Curse of Millhaven - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

Little Boxes - Malvina Reynolds

Turning Round - The Fiery Furnaces

Signals from the Frontier - The Red Paintings

Bo Bo - Spiderbait

Videotape - Radiohead

Somewhere Over the Rainbow - Israel Kamakawiwo'ole

Peaches & Cream - The John Butler Trio

Human Behaviour - Björk

Flaming Lips Live
The Flaming Lips love spectacle, howver the refined and gentle depression of Mr Ambulance driver is stunning.

Mr. Ambulance Driver - The Flaming Lips

Paris 2004 - Peter Bjorn and John

A Pillar of Salt - The Thermals

Enjoy the Silence - Tori Amos

The Grand Apartment (Rolling Stone Original Version) - Louis XIV

Dare - Gorillaz

Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo - Bloodhound Gang

Deer Dance - System of a Down

Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes

Start to Melt - Peter Bjorn and John

Istanbul (Not Constantinople) - They Might Be Giants

The Go Team Live
Beyond their frantic high energy, the Go Team capture a beauty rarely reflected in such powerful loud music

Bottle Rocket - The Go! Team

Kickapoo - Tenacious D

Smiley Faces - Gnarls Barkley

Computer Camp Love - Datarock

Sæglópur - Sigur Rós

This Train Will Be Taking No Passengers - Augie March

Hoppípolla - Sigur Rós

I was going to include Last FM snippets, but you can preview them on iTunes for free. And just to reassure you, if you buy them I don’t get anything – this is purely for love of music. As it should be.
