The Adventures of Mark Twain

October 1st 2008 02:11

This clip is from a fantastic curiosity, an 80’s children’s claymation series featuring Mark Twain, disenchanted with humanity, riding in a balloon with the intent to plunge it into Haley’s comet, with whose appearance he was born.

He is accompanied by Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn and Becky Thatcher, who wish to persuade him to return to Earth – if they don’t succeed they too will share Twain’s fate.

Though the above clip wasn’t included in the finished product (it is available on the DVDs deleted scenes) it is indicative of the sometimes very adult, and intelligent content of the series. Many of Twains works and quotes are intertwined in the series to fantastic effect.
