CHALK! It’s a special kind of awesome. The best thing about it is it’s inoffensivity. It’s almost like Vandalism Lite. And more, much more that that, it’s heaps fun.
Very Cute, No?
I went to Bristol once, and the place had a nice artistic vibe to it, so it’s no surprise that chalk flowers grow from Bristol pavement.
Especially when you consider that it's the birthplace of Banky's work.
I'm not sure how I feel about sexually explicit chalkings, but I sure as HELL cannot condone the violent appropriation of a marginalized group's autonomy. Something to do with homosexuality, as far as I can tell.
Damn awesome skeleton.
A curious WTF moment
While this is more of a specific thing than most the other examples of conventional chalking, it’s awesomeness justifies its placement. The bathroom pictured has been designed to feel like an old run down vandalised toilet. The wall is a chalk board and chalk is made available in a small bowl.
Sprezzatura is a word meaning, roughly, effortless grace. It is essentially the act of making the difficult look easy. The term comes from ‘The Book of the Courtier’ by Baldassare Castiglione, where it is stated that ‘It is an art which does not seem to be an art. One must avoid affectation and practice in all things a certain sprezzatura, disdain or carelessness, so as to conceal art, and make whatever is done or said appear to be without effort and almost without any thought about it ... obvious effort is the antithesis of grace.’
One of the most common given examples is of Da Vincis Mona Lisa, designed to look simple, but made with fathomless complexity. Another more modern example might be Hip Hop dancing, where profoundly difficult moves are made to look effortless
This clip is from a fantastic curiosity, an 80’s children’s claymation series featuring Mark Twain, disenchanted with humanity, riding in a balloon with the intent to plunge it into Haley’s comet, with whose appearance he was born
There's something special about blurred pictures. It's hard to say it clearly. Perhaps the key is in the imperfection - a little peice of how it was - not the truth, but truthful. This was it - this is how it was - it was mad, it was fast; I was nervous, I tripped, I couldn't stand still. The world around me was buzzing with electricity and nothing was exaclty clear. This is how it was.
The lightest solid on the planet, the best insulating material in existence, areogel is basically a foam that’s made from gel that replaces water with air. The video says it a bit better.
